President's Message

Know what’s weird? Day by day nothing seems to change, but pretty soon………everything is different.” (Quote from Calvin of Calvin and Hobbs.) And so it is with Evergreen Newcomers Club. Not everything…. but a lot of things. Some things have already changed. Some things are still evolving.

WEBSITE: Have you visited our new website? You should! Tom Hushen and Jean Ann Wheeler have worked long and hard to transform our website into a spectacularly beautiful, first class Newcomers website. We now have photos and graphics showcasing the splendor of our mountain community, and a wealth of information about intellectual, social and volunteer opportunities available to all our members.

NEWSLETTER. Over the past several months, we have been experimenting with new formats, content, graphics and color for our newsletter. The newsletter is one of our biggest expenses, and your board believes that, with modern technology, we can make it more interesting, exciting, and cost effective for you. This will be the last newsletter in the old format. Going forward, we will have a pared down newsletter of 4 pages highlighting features on our members, upcoming social events, volunteer opportunities, and visual arts. Our regular monthly activities will be published on the website.

VOLUNTEERISM: We have increased our participation in the community via our participation in the Rodeo Parade, Chili CookOff, Octoberfest and expanded volunteer opportunities. Social activities for guys, girls only, singles and couples have significantly increased. So, we’re on the move! Changes are still to come. Watch for next month’s newsletter! As always, we would appreciate hearing your thoughts and ideas.
