ARE YOU COVERED?

ANNUAL INSURANCE REMINDER

Last year’s Board met with the insurance agent who underwrites the policy that covers our organization.  As a result of that discussion, each year we remind our club members of the portion of our coverage that involves our membership.  Many of our activities are held in homes and many activities are risk-free.  There are some functions that could pose liability issues; therefore we felt it important that members be fully informed as to the coverage our policy provides.  While we are making no recommendations as to what kind of riders are necessary, those of you who regularly host groups in your homes may want to revisit your individual policies to make sure you have the coverage you are most comfortable with.

For questions or input about this subject, please contact

Dick Sperry, Membership:  303-670-0415 / rsperry@iesco.com

PRESIDENT’S NOTES

Piercingly blue skies, insistent elk trumpeting, cool mornings that surprise you with their clarity -- evidence that fall has arrived in Colorado.  For as long as I can remember, this has been my favorite season because it seems to crackle with the promise of excitement.

This year the season’s beauty has set me to thinking about the gifts of autumn.  For example, for those of us on the far side of middle age, the gloriously intense color of the season reflects the equally glorious richness that the years add to our lives.  The green of spring’s youth, while a beauty much welcomed by the winter-weary, isn’t the best of life after all.  Instead, the lush green leaves of spring are even more strikingly gorgeous as they take on their rich, burnished autumnal hues.

And just as it takes time to bring the beautiful changes of color to the leaves, time offers us changes also.  Where we live, what we do with our days, who our friends are and, yes, how we look—all of these change over the years.  While some of these alterations may be less than satisfying, perhaps even painful, some of these changes bring unexpected treasures into our lives.

John and I moved to Evergreen four years ago and, like you, we love the area and bask in the beauty and opportunities of the area.  But for me, one of the greatest treasures this change in our lives has brought is the people I have met.  I’m developing some wonderful friendships, some of which I hope continue for our duration on earth.  With time, life’s ongoing changes in our lives will bring even more substance and breadth to these friendships, and I relish that thought.  Interestingly, I’ve met all of these people through Newcomers.  What a wonderful mission for Evergreen Newcomers Club, to help bring this treasure to others!

ACTIVITY GROUPS

 Alpine Skiing

Fred Simon / (303) 670-3120 / cfsimon2002@hotmail.com

As detailed in the previous newsletter, I will compile a list of all those who signed up or expressed an interest. In mid-Novemberand will email the list to all who registered. The group will have its first outing on the Wed. after Thanks-giving (depending on snow conditions). The plan is to meet every Wed. morning at 8:15 at Bergen RTD and car pool to the respective ski areas. It would be helpful if everyone who expects to attend on Wed. would email the group the preceding Tues. Think snow.

So what are you waiting for? It is a lovely day out playing bridge and having lunch. We are a happy group and would love to welcome old and new members at all playing levels. So let's have a great turnout at 10:00 on Thursday, October 11th.
