Our group will start its activities again probably in May 2010 and in the meantime we will be "dreaming" new challenges for next season. See you on the trails...

The charter of this group is to provide four wheeling opportunities on trails in the "moderate-to-difficult" range. We will avoid scheduling "easy" trails except when needed to connect with more advanced trails. This charter will especially apply to our overnight trips to places such as Moab, where "difficult" trails will be top priority, interspersed with interesting "moderate" trails. The local "moderate" trails that we will schedule will usually be suitable for adventurous beginners and stock SUVs, so people in that category are welcome to participate. This is a family activity, with spectacular scenery, great picnic lunches, and photo ops and other stops along the way.

Our season normally runs May - October when we hope to avoid most snow complications. Typically we'll have two outings per month, a combination of nearby day trips interspersed with about three long weekend out-of-town adventures. For the day trips, which are usually on Saturdays, we'll depart at 8:00 or 9:00 A.M., depending on destination, and try to return by mid-to-late afternoon. The overnighters usually run Friday-Sunday. In consideration of trail logistics, most trips will be limited to 10 vehicles on a first come/first served trip registration basis. Trip registration and other communications are by email to group members.

We recommend the following:

  * CB radio (strongly recommended)
  * Lunch and lawn chairs
  * Plenty of drinking water
  * Warm clothing for high altitudes and weather changes
  * Camera
  * GPS, if you have one (trail waypoints are available for each trip)
  * Full tank of gas
