The charter of this group is to provide four wheeling opportunities
on trails in the "moderate-to-difficult" range. We will avoid
scheduling "easy" trails except when needed in the winter
when snow pack is the major factor, and in cases where "easy"
trails are needed to connect with more advanced trails. This charter
will especially apply to our overnight trips to places such as Moab,
where "difficult" trails will be top priority, interspersed
with interesting "moderate" trails. The local "moderate"
trails that we will schedule will be usually be suitable for adventurous
beginners and stock SUVs, so people in that category are welcome to
participate. This is a family activity, with spectacular scenery, great
picnic lunches, and photo ops and other stops along the way.
We will generally, although not always, schedule our outings on the 2nd and 4th Saturdays of each month during warm weather, and on the 4th Saturday during the winter. We'll typically depart either Albertson's or the Evergreen Library (depending on which direction we're going) at 9:00 A.M., and usually return by mid-to-late afternoon, depending on the trip. In consideration of trail logistics, participation in a given outing will be limited to ten vehicles, on a first come/first served basis.
We recommend the following:
* CB radio (strongly recommended)
* Lunch and lawn chairs
* Plenty of drinking water
* Warm clothing for high altitudes and weather changes
* Camera
* GPS, if you have one (trail waypoints are available for each trip)
* Full tank of gas
